First Day of School!

Hello classmates! My name is Raquel. I am 52 years old (in June) and going back to school for MS in Business Continuity and Emergency Management. I haven't been in school since 1984 when I graduated from Accounting and Math from the University of Alaska Anchorage. I am thrilled to participate in this brand new experience! I am certain I will learn so much about the latest in social media applications. I currently work for Mitchell International in San Diego as a Sr. Program Manager. My team creates software for the automotive collision industry. I'm taking this class in the hopes of security my career and in advancing it to either higher levels in corporate life or who knows, the sky's the limit when the imagination is triggered! I have two daughters, Nicole who is 26 years old and Gabbi who is 12 years old and a fabulous synchronized team skater. I am also Mom to 7 year old Tyler, a mini wire-haired dachshund. Well, enough of me for now.

  1. Hi,Raquel!
I very much like your blog especially the kind of template you opted for and also the pix of your dog. By the way what is his or her name? I used to have a dog called Zulumasai. He died a few years back and as a memorial I opened a special e-mail account in his honor; thus my current e-mail address bearing his name.
It appears we are in the same old boat; having completed my college degree several years back and now coming back for academic active duty. But I trust the effluence of time will not impact negatively on our performance on this interesting but equally challenging course. I'm not particularly saavy with the variety of digital technnologies now buffetting us including the blog. But thus far my first hands on with a blog has been very educative and fun and I pray it continues in this same way.
    Cheers, Joe

  2. Hi, Raquel!
That was a quick response and also encouraging.
I am in the Banking and Financial Services Management elective and this course is my fifth. Thus far it has been interesting but demands considerable time inputs. My first course was in Financial and Management Accounting that I handled with ease because of my Accounting background. The other four courses were somehow manageable. And I trust with determination and perseverance I will once again prevail in this course that is relative new to me.
I will encourage you to work a little harder since this could be your first online course and as such you could encounter challenges stretching from accessing course materials, technical issues, etc. "The important thing is to not stop questioning " (Einstein) even if you think you might sound absurd! This courses appear to be hands on learning experience and you learn the ropes as you progress.
I wish you all the best.
    Cheer, Joe
